Biography

Michael P. Schuller, P.E. (also credentialed FTMS, FAPT per Atkinson-Noland's own site), is President of Atkinson-Noland & Associates (ANA), a masonry-engineering firm headquartered at 2619 Spruce Street, Boulder, CO. He is licensed as a Professional Engineer in Colorado (1994, License No. 29544), New York (2013, No. 93125-1), and New Jersey (2017, No. GE 5339100). His JurisPro profile states 24 years working with the legal industry as an expert witness. Per ANA's own site, he holds a B.S. in Civil Engineering (1987) and M.S. in Civil Engineering (1989), both from the University of Colorado. He is credited with "more than 100 publications relating to evaluation, repair, and structural behavior of concrete and masonry structures" and as co-author of a book — sources conflict slightly on the exact title, rendered as "Assessment and Retrofit of Masonry Structures" in one summary and "Nondestructive Evaluation and Testing of Masonry Structures" on his JurisPro CV — so the precise title is unconfirmed and should be checked before use. He taught Masonry Structural Design at the University of Colorado, Boulder (2000–2009 and again in 2016), has served as an expert for television documentaries on historical construction, and is a Fellow of The Masonry Society and the Association for Preservation Technology, sitting on the Board of Directors of the Rocky Mountain Masonry Institute. Past clients cited include the Nuclear Regulatory Commission, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the Getty Institute, the National Park Service, and the World Monuments Fund.
