Biography
Hastak's credentials and dates are unusually well documented because Purdue University publishes his faculty page directly. He holds a Ph.D. in Civil Engineering from Purdue (1994), an MS in Civil Engineering from the University of Cincinnati (1991), a BE in Civil Engineering from Nagpur University, India (1987), and — notably recent — an MS in Law (MSL) from Northwestern University's Pritzker School of Law, earned in 2024. He is a licensed Professional Engineer in Indiana, a Certified Cost Professional (CCP, AACE International, since 1996), a Construction Risk Insurance Specialist (CRIS, 2019), a Nationally Certified Professional in Mediation (NCPM), a Fellow of ASCE (elected 2024), and a member of the National Academy of Construction (elected 2023). He is the Reilly Professor at Purdue's Lyles School of Civil and Construction Engineering, and for more than 17 years headed the school's predecessor construction-engineering department (Dernlan Family Head of Construction Engineering and Management) until it merged with Civil Engineering to form the Lyles School on July 1, 2024.
