Biography
Michael R. Koeppel, CPA, CITP, CTP, CFF, CGMA, ABV, is Founder and Managing Director of Lakelet Advisory Group LLC, founded in 2003 and headquartered at 1902 Ridge Road, Suite 146, West Seneca, NY, with additional offices in Toronto, ON and Rochester, NY. He holds a B.A. in Economics (summa cum laude) from the State University College of New York at Buffalo and a Master of Accountancy from Bowling Green State University; he has taught corporate taxation and econometrics at SUNY Buffalo and served as a PricewaterhouseCoopers technology-optimization instructor in the U.S. and Brazil. His career includes data security audit work at PricewaterhouseCoopers in the U.S. and Brazil, designing a legal software platform adopted by 500+ law firms in its first year, a senior technology executive role at a Fortune 500 company, interim COO and CFO engagements at international companies, Citigroup Venture Capital experience, and service as a U.S. Army Medical Corpsman (E-5); he states work across 34 countries. He has led 19 M&A transactions and practices in business valuation, financial forensics, bankruptcy restructuring, turnarounds, estate and gift planning, intellectual property valuation, ESOP valuations, economic loss analysis, and service-organization controls. He chaired the NY State Society of CPAs Business Valuation and Litigation Support Committee (2024–2026) and previously chaired its Bankruptcy and Financial Reorganizations Committee (2012–2018); he is a member of the Academy of Court-Appointed Neutrals. He authored "Methodologies and Challenges in Bankruptcy Valuation" and "A Complete Guide to Business Valuations for Estate & Gifts" (both 2025), hosts "The Value of a Valuation" podcast, and was featured in the American Bar Association's Judges' Journal.
