Biography
Martin H. Williams, Ph.D., is a clinical and forensic psychologist, formerly based in San Jose/Dana Point, California. Education: B.A. summa cum laude, UCLA (Psychology, June 1968, Phi Beta Kappa, Highest Honors, Woodrow Wilson Fellow 1968–1969); Ph.D., University of California, Berkeley (Psychology, June 1975; dissertation on behavioral treatment of fear of flying). He was a National Science Foundation predoctoral fellow and completed predoctoral internships at VA hospitals in Palo Alto and San Francisco (1970–1973). He was a Clinical Psychologist in the Department of Psychiatry at Kaiser-Permanente Medical Center, Santa Clara, CA, from 1980 onward, becoming Division Chief of Adult Psychiatry there in 1995 and Director of the Group Psychotherapy Program in 2003; he chaired the department's Peer Review Committee for roughly 11 years (1983–1987 and 1988–1995). He has been a licensed psychologist in California since 1976 (License PSY 4642) with no disciplinary history, per his CV and a secondary bio. He served on APA Division 42 (Psychology and Law) governance, including chairing an Interdivisional Task Force on Licensing Board Problems and Issues (2004–2006) and serving on the Division 42 Task Force on Specialty Guidelines for Forensic Psychology (2005–2006). His CV (dated October 2005) lists an extensive publication record spanning 1969–2005, including "Exploitation and Inference: Mapping the Damage From Therapist-Patient Sexual Involvement," American Psychologist, 47(3), 412-421 (1992), and a book chapter, "Multiple Relationships: A Malpractice Plaintiff's Litigation Strategy," in Dual Relationships and Psychotherapy (Springer, 2002).
